Residents on the street previously said they were 'sick' of getting the letters.

Companies House says it will take action after 16 properties on the same Worksop street were "bombarded" by letters about bogus firms. The organisation says it has new powers which will prevent such situations happening in future after those affected said the problem was becoming "ridiculous."

Despite the change, some of those on Baker Close say they are still getting letters related to the companies. One of those affected is 72-year-old Cath Morris, who has lived in the area for at least 25 years, and previously said: "I've been binning them but they keep coming, I'm sick of getting them I've had five letters on one day before and it's just stressing me out.

"The new Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, which achieved Royal Assent last week, will significantly enhance the role and powers of the Registrar of Companies, enabling us to crack down on the use of false addresses. We look forward to applying our new powers to improve the quality and reliability of our data and to act more quickly if people tell us their personal information has been used on the register without their consent.
