Greg Abbott responded by staging his own show of military force for a Fox News television audience on Monday to highlight that he’s sending more troops to the border, too, but not in coordination with the White House.
. Both the Trump and Biden administrations have used Title 42 to turn away millions of migrants at the border.U.S. National Guard members to the border to join another 2,500 already there. White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said last week the new soldiers will do data entry, warehouse support and other administrative tasks so U.S. Customs and Border Protection can focus on fieldwork ahead of Title 42 expiring.
“The goal of the president is not to stop people from coming across the border illegally,” Abbott said.
