Google has issued an urgent warning to Chrome users across the UK and the rest of the world. The alert comes after a worrying flaw was found within the web browser.
Google has issued an urgent update to all Chrome users in the UK, advising them to relaunch their browsers today.
In an update on its website Google stated: "The Stable channel has been updated to 124.0.6367.201/.202 for Mac and Windows and 124.0.6367.201 for Linux which will roll out over the coming days/weeks. Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2024-4671 exists in the wild." He adds: "Google has acknowledged that an exploit exists in the wild, which means that attackers are actively using this vulnerability to compromise user systems. This elevates the severity of the situation and requires immediate action."
What immediate steps should you take to secure your online safety? While some Chrome browsers will update automatically, this is a prime time to go through your settings and restart the software in order to install any pending upgrades and strengthen your PC's defences.
