The foremost question on many investors’ minds is whether Apple’s coming iPhone release will be delayed as a result of the pandemic. The company typically releases the iPhone in late September, but supply chain challenges earlier this year . Investors are eager to know whether any delay will affect whether the phone is available during the Christmas shopping season.Big Tech shares are rising, a sign that investors doubt tough antitrust action will be taken against Apple, Facebook, Amazon and Google's parent Alphabet, Capital Economics said.
U.S. regulators have gotten increasingly soft since the early 1980s, the research firm said, concluding that "a really significant regulatory push against, or break-up of, the big tech firms is highly unlikely." Ahead of the earnings reports, Apple is up 1%, Facebook 0.4%, Amazon 1.4% and Alphabet is 0.9% higher.Alphabet’s main business, Google’s mammoth digital advertising operation, may report its first ever drop in revenue, compared with a year earlier. Analysts estimate revenue fell about 4% in the latest quarter to $37.33 billion, according to FactSet.
