Former Gogglebox star George Gilbey died after falling through a plastic skylight while working, an inquest heard. The 40-year-old was best known for appearing on the Channel 4 series alongside his mother Linda McGarry and stepfather Pete McGarry, who died aged 71 in 2021.
The police are continuing to investigate the death along with the Health and Safety Executive. An inquest into Mr Gilbey's death was opened at Essex Coroners' Court on Monday morning , Essex Live reports. "A police investigation continues. A post-mortem examination by Dr Benjamin Swift gave a provisional cause of death as 1A traumatic injury to the head and torso consistent with a fall from height."
"I do that and will review the case in four months' time." Coroner Brookes additionally sent his "sincere" condolences to Mr Gilbey's family. A man in his 40s was arrested in connection to Mr Gilbey's death on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, and he has since been released under investigation.
