Police at the scene where Gogglebox star George Gilbey died Investigators have sealed off the scene where Gogglebox star George Gilbey died aged 40 after a fall. The reality star, who appeared on the Channel 4 show with his mum Linda and late stepdad Pete, died in a freak ‘work accident’ in Shoebury, Southend-on-Sea on Wednesday morning. Police, though they have not formally named Gilbey, confirmed they were called to an incident after a man fell from a height and was injured.
He shared a grinning selfie on Facebook and appeared, according to earlier posts, to have been on his way back from the gym. In a statement shared with Metro.co.uk, a spokesperson for Gogglebox said: ‘George was part of the Gogglebox family for eight series alongside his mum Linda and step-dad Pete. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Linda, and George’s family and friends at this very sad time. The family have asked for privacy.’ A spokesman for Essex Police told Metro.co.
