That’ll be a Ford Model T Custom “King T” built by hotrod legend Gene Winfield. The car won the 1964 Oakland Roadster Show’s Most Beautiful Roadster Award and later was memorialized as both a Hot Wheels car and an MPC model kit. Mattel’s Hot Wheels version of the car was called “Hot Heat,” Rawlings said.“These are not perfect cars,” Rawlings said. “These are great cars. These are cars that elicit a response and an emotion from the owner or the viewer.
Rawlings will host high-profile buyers at his garage on Merrell Road and give live tours of each vehicle being sold. The auction concludes Sept. 14. He announced his liquidation plan on his YouTube channel,He’s targeting a new collection after selling this one. He’ll look for vintage Mercedes, Ferrari and Lamborghini models. But he also wants more of the cars that “kids had when he was young,” vehicles from the 1980s and 1990s. Rawling said he has already started bidding on some.
