By early afternoon Thursday Hong Kong time, the local stock benchmark had fallen 1%. Australia’s benchmark was down 2.5%, South Korea’s Kospi Composite 1.3% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 index 2.1%, as the yen strengthened to around ¥107.
