O’Loughlin Gaels defensive rock Deegan fought off stiff competition from influential players from All-Ireland winners, St. Thomas, including Conor Cooney and David Burke.
Burke and another O’Loughlin Gaels man, David Fogarty, were nominated for the award. Inspirational Derry skipper Glass scored the late goal that turned the All-Ireland final upside down for Glen as they defeated St. Brigid’s to land a first national senior title.The other nominees for the football award were Ben O’Carroll and Shane Walsh .
