Hyaena, the latest album by Glasgow progressive-rock group, has achieved success on Billboard charts, surpassing their previous achievements before disbanding 43 years ago.

A Glasgow progressive-rock group has hit the Billboard top charts almost four decades after the band broke up.

Gentle Giant's roots can be found in the Gorbals which at the time was considered a slum due to the poor living conditions and poverty found in the area. The band's story starts with the birth of Phil, who was born in 1937 and Derek Shulman, born in 1947, to a Jewish-Scottish family. English actor and musician Dudley Moore CBE also appeared as a guest on one of the bands tracks. After being pushed into psychedelia by their label the band would achieve their peak with the UK Top 10 hit 'Kites' in the autumn of 1967.

"Its considered to be what you would compare it to in the USA. Anybody who knows Great Britain at all and knows Glasgow will know that this is the, if you like, the hardest place on Earth. Its the equivalent of Watts in Los Angeles or the damn East side of New York. It was a very hard place. "After the war things improved quite radically the overhang in Glasgow was still from the 30s if you know anything about British history it was a very very somber time in this country. Great things were going on you know with great strikes and anti establishment and a variety of things."
