A PLANNED march has been stopped by police due to the"potential impact" of a counter-protest.
Around 150 participants were expected to gather on Millroad Street in Calton at 10.30am before marching to La Pasionaria Statue at Custom House Quay along the Clyde Walkway.However, Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland, Divisional Commander for Greater Glasgow Division, made the decision to prevent the procession from going ahead"as a last resort" due to the potential impact of a planned counter-protest.
"Police Scotland’s priority is always public safety and this decision was taken as a last resort after careful consideration of the potential impact of a planned counter-protest.
