Concerns wewre raised that pupils were leaving schools at break times to buy disposable vapes.

A call for action to crack down on the number of school pupils buying disposable vapes on their lunch break has been issued by Glasgow councillors.

They have also asking for more work to be carried out to engage with the retailers on the issue of single use vapes. It comes after the Scottish Government published an updated action plan to make Scotland tobacco-free by 2034. A council officer advised members that the local authority doesn’t directly engage with schools but works alongside Police Scotland.Chairwoman Elaine McSporran said: “I think it is really important to get that message across to the schools because when the kids are out and they are going for their lunch - they’re buying their juice, their sandwich, their crisps and a vape.Councillor Stephen Curran asked how the council was engaging with retailers who distribute the product.
