Amy Ellis changed career two years ago and now stranded motorists are ringing her phone off the hook
A glam vehicle recovery boss says women 'love' it when she comes to their aid. Amy Ellis fancied a change in career in 2021 and ditched the 9-5 office grind working as recruitment manager for the open road and a 3.5 tonne truck.
Amy, from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, said: "People say 'you're not the typical recovery driver' when I rescue them but women love it. I did a job the other day in town and there were some women standing at a bus stop at about 11pm on a Friday and we were the only people about. Amy said: "I've had a lot of people, including women with their children, saying they've rung me because they feel more comfortable with me coming out to them. It happens more times than I thought it would. I thought about changing the company name, because at the minute it's under Amy's Recovery & Transport, but people were like, 'no, it's you, it's what people know you as'.
"I don't miss it, now even just thinking about doing paperwork drives me mad. The truck driver, who's racked up more than 100 five-star reviews online, now wants to expand her business.
