Co-presenter Bradley Walsh made the announcement mid-way through Saturday's semi-final
Gladiators viewers said they were "gutted" after a show "favourite" hotly tipped for the men's title faced injury heartbreak in Saturday's semi-final. Chung Leung went down during the Powerball game - which sees Gladiators tackle contenders to stop them scoring.
Co-presenter Bradley Walsh had announced that Chung was “sadly injured”. He told the audience at Sheffield Arena: "After consultations with the medical team, the decision has been made that he could no longer continue in the competition. I know he’s doing okay and is receiving the best medical care."
He said: “I’m disappointed to not be able to finish this race, but the support I’ve had from the crowd has been incredible and it’s really helping." Reacting to the dramatic events on X, @Emily147x said: "Oh no Chung is out!!! Absolutely gutted for him, he was our favourite" while @Milly1978 said: "Absolutely gutted for Chung. He was my favourite. I had him down to win this whole thing."
