A mum has told how her little girl was left looking like something in a scene from TV's Casualty after she was hit by a firework. Rosie May Mason was enjoying the Bonfire Night party at a friend's home when the celebration turned into a nightmare.
The now 10-year-old is determined to try to stop others from going through what she has had to deal with by telling her story to warn about the dangers of Bonfire Night. This week she went to her local school to give a talk on fire and firework safety. "Everything was being done safely and responsibly, we had a bucket of water on hand, sand, and were all a safe distance apart. But then a multi-shoot firebox was lit and one didn’t shoot straight, it went off at an angle and shot off in Rosie’s direction.”
She came out of hospital with full head and neck bandages. Once she was back home, Eleanor and husband James had to clean her wound and redress it for months on end in the bath.
