The offramp to northbound SR 99 from the eastbound West Seattle Bridge is closed, forcing drivers heading into downtown Seattle to take a different route.
Cars were damaged before the offramp was closed at around 7 p.m. Tuesday. How many were damaged is not known.
Video from a traffic camera on East Marginal Way and South Hanford Street on Monday showed a tow truck and someone in a yellow vest working on a tire as a Seattle police car blocked a lane.The offramp was expected to reopen Tuesday night, but on Wednesday, WSDOT said there is no estimated time for reopening.
This isn’t the first pothole that’s caused problems for drivers on the northbound Highway 99 offramp. The West Seattle Bridge reopened in September last year, but that offramp was was still accessible through Spokane Street during the closure. The Washington State department of Transportation had to close the offramp for two weeks because of a pothole.
