Getting Puerto Rico relief after hurricane Fiona
, a nonprofit humanitarian organization, is staged and ready to respond.
In addition to having emergency response staff stationed in Puerto Rico, Direct Relief stages caches of emergency medical supplies at health clinics in other hurricane prone areas. The caches contain the medical items most needed in the wake of a disaster, including trauma supplies, antibiotics, and medications for diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic conditions.
Michelle Carlo, Medical Advisor for Direct Relief in Puerto Rico, is in San Juan, and joined KRLD's John Liddle to talk about the current situation.
