A Georgia man confessed to locking his injured 82-year-old grandmother in a freezer where she died, police said.
Robert Tincher III, 29, told police that he placed the body of his grandmother, Doris Cumming, into large plastic bags after Cummings suffered a fall in December 2021 and then locked her body into the freezer, breaking several of her bones in the process and killing her, according to the Floyd County Police Department.
"Tincher told police her back broke as he forced her into the freezer. He also described to the investigator in graphic detail her moving and breathing while in the freezer, which was locked," the department said in a press release Friday.Cumming's body was found in a freezer in a storage unit after police were dispatched to her residence to conduct a welfare check.
Tincher said he had initially placed her body in a freezer within the residence instead of providing his grandmother medical care for approximately four months before moving it to the storage unit prior to police discovery. "Tincher had no provocation or altercation with the victim, nor life saving measures," police wrote in an incident report.Tincher has been charged with felony malice murder, concealing the death of another, aggravated battery, and felony murder.
