The clever hack involves a child's toy
A gardener has devised a clever method to prevent squirrels from stealing bird food - a common annoyance for many homeowners.
A video demonstrating the trick showed that they had fastened a Slinky toy around the trunk of a tree. The squirrel persistently jumped onto the Slinky in an attempt to reach the bird seed, but was unable to climb further up, resulting in it eventually letting go.Despite the squirrel's determined efforts to scale the tree, it never managed to reach the bird seed located by the bird box on one of the branches - much to the delight of the gardener, reports the Express.
Another added: "It'll just take a couple of days for him to twig that all he has to do is stand on the ground and gather down the spring until the tension bungees him right up to the feeder. Then you'll have yourself a squirrel thrill ride with a nut concession at the end of it."
