Voters must take photo ID to the polling station with them or face getting turned away
Thousands of voters across England and Wales will head to the polls today, Thursday, May 2, to have their say in this year's local elections.
Luckily, several different types of ID can be used - including passports, driving licences and bus passes - and the Electoral Commission has released a full list of accepted forms of ID.READ MORE: Find your nearest local election 2024 polling station and which ward you are in For those without valid photo ID, a Voter Authority Certificate will be accepted instead. The government will issue a VAC for free ahead of an election, however, the deadline to apply for a VAC for this election has already passed.
