A serving Met officer has called for commanders to be left alone to make decisions based on ‘solid policing grounds’
“Routes can be changed, officers can be deployed and the law will be applied appropriately. It would be better if the public saw decisions being made on solid policing grounds rather than as a result of pressure from the sidelines.” During the protests officers receive advice from counter-terrorism specialists and Crown Prosecution Service lawyers on whether offences may have been committed.
