One thing Matt Platkin has earned in positions of authority through the years is the trust of the governor, and that’s the most important ingredient when considering a nomination as important as this. While an appointed position, the Attorney General is the most independent office in state government. As governor, one goes through highs and lows and will naturally want people around he can trust. Will he face grilling over his handling of Katie Brennan’s rape accusation?If Platkin is confirmed, it will send a stark signal to women that they should never come forward about sexual assault because the top prosecutor in the state has made it clear that he will dismiss their concerns rather than elevating them.
Q. Environmentalists were again critical of Gov. Phil Murphy, this time over his proposed Climate Pollutant Reduction rules. They are saying he isn’t doing enough on climate change after banging heads with him in December over appointment to the Pinelands Commission.
