Westlake, though, answered with 7:51 left in the half on a 3-yard run by Nate Acosta to tie the game at 14. Texas City built a 13-0 lead when Joey Duran connected with Clyde Bruton on a 7-yard touchdown pass with 10:22 showing in the second quarter. Hitchcock, a Class 3A school, took the early lead on Refugio at 7:14 of the opening quarter before moving out to a 14-0 lead just two minutes later.
Lamar Consolidated made it 9-0 with 1:42 left in the first quarter when a Willowridge holding penalty in the end zone resulted in a safety. The Oilers struck first when La Damion McDowell sprinted 53 yards for a touchdown with 4:44 left in the opening quarter. The Tors took a 7-0 lead at 3:58 of the first quarter when an errant punt snap resulted in an end zone recovery by Braylin Caldwell.The Tors continued to pull away from their rival as Aiven Coleman scored on a 5-yard run at 4:46 of the second period for a 20-0 lead.
