Muniz has had a longstanding interest in racing. He grew up near Raleigh, N.C., and attended NASCAR races with his family at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He said he met the late Dale Earnhardt on the day of Earnhardt’s death at the 2001 Daytona 500 while attending the race to film a segment for MTV.Muniz has competed in open-wheel cars, including in the Formula BMW USA Championship and the Champ Car Atlantic Championship . He’s also attended the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in Long Beach, Calif.
In October 2021, Muniz entered his first stock-car competition, racing a pro late model at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, Calif. He finished 17th of the 25 entries in the main event.
