Young Lancers score first, hold on to defeat Warriors
There was almost nothing to show for Easter Week for the Francis Parker High School baseball team.
Center fielder Trey Gudoy, a sophomore, slugged a three-run home run in the fourth inning and pitched the final two innings to collect the save.“I prefer playing in the outfield and hit. Pitching is just something I do to close games once in a while, and I don’t mind being on the mound a little.’’ The Warriors, who lead the Valley League with a 2-0 record, tallied once in the fifth inning, gave up one run in the sixth inning before Jace Cervantes’ two-run single cut the deficit to 6-3.
