made his name in the game by beating the Tampa Bay Rays.as the longest tenure running baseball operations in the franchise’s history, Daniels joined Tampa Bay as a senior advisor, baseball operations. It’s a part-time role not dissimilar to the one Daniels once hoped to move into with the Rangers after he’d hired Chris Young as GM.
Daniels spent 17 years as the Rangers’ GM and eventual president of baseball operations. In 2010, he directed the team to its first World Series. Along the way, the Rangers won a playoff series for the first time in franchise history, beating Tampa Bay in the AL Division Series. The Rangers beat Tampa Bay in the ALDS in 2011.
