Zaheer Ahmed was fined thousands of pounds after admitting flytipping at Manchester Magistrates Court
A former takeaway director has been fined thousands of pounds after bags of rubbish were dumped on a Rusholme street. Zaheer Ahmed was the sole director of Special Lahori Ice Bar Ltd, which operated a café and takeaway on Wilmslow Road.
On each occasion, officers inspecting the waste found evidence addressed to Ahmed and the business, Special Lahori Ice Bar. Takeaway cups, food wrappings and receipts with branding linked to the company were also found within the waste.READ MORE: Woman, 25, killed in horror crash as man arrested During the interview, Ahmed admitted that some waste had come from the business, but claimed that it was closed for refurbishment between January and April. He instead placed the blame on delivery drivers and contractors who were working on the property.
But at a later hearing last Friday , he changed his plea to guilty. Ahmed was ordered to pay more than £4,000 by the court - including £2,700 in fines, court costs of £1,146.24 and a victims of crime surcharge of £190.
