Skrine is charged with defrauding Canadian banks.
after disconnecting an ankle monitor and missing a court date on Monday. Skrine was facing 15 charges related to bank fraud committed after being arrested in 2023. He has now been hit with additional charges.of more than $100,000 by using fake checks to open accounts. He would identify himself as a former NFL player, open the account with fraudulent checks, then withdraw money before those checks cleared. Police claim the scheme continued for more than nine months.
Skrine was granted bail from a Saskatchewan correctional center on April 12, and was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on May 6. He didn't show up for that court appearance, and his GPS monitor has since gone offline according to police. The 35-year-old was a fifth round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2011 NFL draft, and spent time with the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans. He last played in the NFL during the 2021 season. He announced his retirement from the NFL in July of 2022.
