A former Republican county elections commissioner in upstate New York has pleaded guilty to applying for absentee ballots in the names of other registered voters.

ALBANY, N.Y. — A former Republican county elections commissioner in upstate New York pleaded guilty Wednesday to applying for absentee ballots in the names of other registered voters.

Jason Schofield, who is from Troy, resigned last month from the Rensselaer County Board of Elections. He admitted that in 2021 he unlawfully used the names and birthdates of voters in connection with 12 absentee ballot applications he submitted electronically to the New York State Voter Absentee Ballot Application Request Portal, according to federal prosecutors.

Schofield, 43, admitted he falsely certified that he was the voter requesting each of the absentee ballots.Hans Pennink / AP file When Schofield was originally arraigned in September, his attorney said Schofield maintained he was innocent of the charges in the 12-count indictment. Schofield is scheduled to be sentenced on May 12. He faces up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and supervised released of up to three years for each count.

Used BMW 5 SERIES (G3X/F90) M5 CS 2021 for saleUsed BMW 5 SERIES (G3X/F90) M5 CS 2021 for sale1 of less than 100 cars destined for the UK this is the latest and greatest iteration of the new M5. Based on the M5 Competition, the 2022 BMW M5 CS cuts weight and adds more power. That results in what BMW is calling the most powerful and quickest BMW production vehicle ever made. Under the bonnet, the M5 CS uses the same twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine as the rest of the M5 line-up. In the M5 CS, the engine is good for 627 horsepower, which is an extra 10 hp over the M5 Competition. Torque remains the same at 553 pound-feet of torque and power is still routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Just like the M5 Competition, the M5 CS comes with an active all-wheel-drive system with a rear-wheel-drive mode. The extra power may not sound like a large increase, but it does wonders when paired with the weight savings. UK supplied and ready for its next owner.
