A former Minneapolis police officer was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for state charges over the murder of George Floyd
, which led to a summer of protests against racism and police brutality across the U.S. in 2020.to aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.
It was part of a plea deal with the Minnesota Attorney General’s office in which the state agreed to drop a higher charge of aiding and abetting second-degree murder.
