An aide to former Vice President Mike Pence says he believes an FBI search of Pence's home for classified documents is"not too far off."
Former chief of staff to Pence, Marc Short, told Jake Tapper on CNN's The Lead on Wednesday that he believes Pence will give the FBI full access to his house for a search in the near future. Pence's team and the Justice Department have reportedly been in talks for some time to conduct a search of the former vice president's residence in Indiana.The former vice president told the National Archives last month that he had found classified documents from his time as vice president at his home. The discovery came after the revelation that former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden were found to have improperly stored classified documents.
The Justice Department has not announced any action against Pence but has appointed special counsels to investigate Trump and Biden. Jack Smith was appointed last year to investigate Trump's handling of classified documents, along with his potential role in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021. Robert Hur was appointed last month to investigate Biden's alleged mishandling of classified documents.
