The menu has something for all occasions from 8am to 11pm
Tasty breakfasts, a Punjabi take on a burger and delectable sweet treats will be on sale when one of the UK's fastest growing Indian street food restaurants opens in Nottingham. Karak Chaii, a franchise, is based in Radford Road, Hyson Green, in a former RSPCA charity shop.
The menu starts with a day breakfast - the star is the desi breakfast with a choice of scrambled eggs, masala omelette or shakshuka with a side of either chaana, daal or spicy masala beans and a choice of bread, paratha, roti or toast. It's served with a cup of karak chaii or coffee - a filling and value-for-money meal at £7.50, while a masala omelette wrap, bun or toastie costs £3.95.
Sweet-toothed customers can choose from traditional Indian desserts such as gulab jamon and gajar halwa. Chai-flavoured brownies, Nutella wraps and slabs of fruit cake will also go down a treat. The specific blend is a closely guarded secret of Karak Chaii's founders, Javed and Sara. The menu was inspired by their travels, across India. Nottingham becomes the 17th branch, joining restaurants in towns and cities including Birmingham - where it all started - London, Cardiff and Leamington Spa. This is the first in the East Midlands and is different to the existing branches.
