Former 007 George Lazenby from On Her Majesty's Secret Service wants fellow Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth to take over as the next James Bond.
With the debate over who should play the next James Bond currently heating up, former 007 George Lazenby has picked fellow Aussie Liam Hemsworth as his top choice to lead the franchise. Lazenby, who took over from Sean Connery in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service, famously walked away from the role after only a single outing.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY With fans currently waiting to find out who will become the next Bond following the departure of Daniel Craig, Lazenby has recently stepped forward to offer his recommendation. While many eyes are currently on Bullet Train's Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the potential front-runner, Lazenby has told TMZ that he wants to see fellow Australian actor Liam Hemsworth suit up as the British super spy.
Aside from Taylor-Johnson and Hemsworth, a slew of other well-known actors has been potentially linked to the role at one point or another. Everyone from Henry Cavill to Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page and Game of Thrones star Richard Madden has all been floated as possible Bonds, joining an extensive list that includes some slightly more baffling choices such as Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen.
In the meantime, it does not seem that Bond producers are in any rush to make their final casting decision; fans should probably not expect an official announcement to be made anytime in the immediate future. However, there is perhaps no better-qualified person to predict who will be the next in line to become 007 than the same actor who took over from the very first Bond.
