The Foreign Office has issued an urgent warning for UK nationals in Lebanon, advising them to "get out now" and cautioning that the government "do not rely on us to evacuate you."
The advice clearly states "advises against all travel to Lebanon due to risks associated with the ongoing conflict between Israel, Lebanese Hizballah and other non-state actors in Lebanon." Reiterating the limitations on support available from the British embassy, the guidance stresses: "The British embassy may be increasingly limited in the assistance that it can provide. If you are currently in Lebanon, we encourage you to leave.", reports Birmingham Live.The warning is explicit in encouraging personal responsibility for safety plans: "You should have a personal emergency plan that does not rely on the UK government.
