Ford Motor Co. F, -1.46% may cut a work shift at the plant where it builds the Lightning, the electric version of its best-selling F-150 pickup truck, thanks to waning demand, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing a memo it had viewed from a union leader. The automaker indicated it could instead build more of gas-powered F-150s instead, the Journal said.
Ford did not immediately return a request for comment. The United Auto Workers did not call for more strikes on Friday, but warned it could do so at any time going forward. Autoworkers have been on strike at several Ford, General Motors Co. GM, -2.01%, and Stellantis NV STLA, -0.37% assembly plants and facilities since Sept. 14, and the most recent strike expansion hit Ford’s Louisville, Kentucky pickup truck plant.
