If you’re looking at an entry-level S650 Mustang, hopefully you like automatics.
Unfortunately, the technical sheet on the new 2024 models doesn't show any data on the manual transmission on the EcoBoost, and that isn't because it's still in development or mistakenly missing.that, due to a very low take rate among existing EcoBoost Mustang orders, the manual transmission option has been dropped. The stick is now restricted to the V-8 Mustangs, with the GT getting a six-speed Getrag and the Dark Horse getting the Tremec TR-3160.
The Drive also confirmed that 2024 Mustang EcoBoost owners who might want to adapt one of those manual transmissions to their turbo four-banger are out of luck. The bellhousing design between the EcoBoost and Coyote are completely different. Without a custom adapter or bellhousing for the EcoBoost—on top of a motorsports or custom ECU, or finding some way to trick the ECU into thinking a six-speed is a 10-speed —it won't work.
We asked Ford what the future of the manual transmission Mustang is going to be and if there will be a possibility ofmaking it to the Mustang GT. We're still awaiting Ford's response at the time of this article's publication, but we will update this if they respond at a later time or date.
