At just 24 years old, Josh made headlines worldwide in 2021 by courageously becoming the first professional footballer to come out as gay, sparking an outpouring of support from the global football community. “There’s something personal that I need to share with everyone. I am a footballer and I am gay,” he explained in a clip shared to the team’s social media.The post was accompanied by heartwarming photos capturing Morrell's delighted reaction and the couple holding hands, with Morrell proudly displaying his brand new ring.
