A Shropshire town's foodbank has recorded its ‘busiest year ever’ with 789 food parcels distributed to vulnerable people in the community.

The foodbank has reported that demand for services had increased ‘tenfold’ in the last 12 years, rising from 73 food parcels in 2010 to 789 in 2022. “We have grown enormously over the years – we started with a set of shelves in the minister’s office in 2005, and he provided whatever food parcels were needed.
A considerable amount of work went in to putting together food parcels and the special Christmas hampers, which included toys for children. But on a positive note, Ludlow Foodbank has seen an increase in donations, as well as enquiries into volunteering.
