Planes were forced to circle the area in a holding pattern after cops were called to investigate a report of a drone flying near Drumchapel, around 3.5 miles from the airport.

A spokesman for Glasgow Airport said: “Aircraft were placed in a temporary holding pattern while Police"Flights resumed shortly after when was confirmed it was safe to continue operations.” Normal service resumed after around 20 minutes, but the force confirmed that they are still conducting enquiries into the incident.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a drone seen flying near a plane in the Drumchapel area around 1.35pm on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

“Flights at Glasgow Airport were suspended for around 20 minutes while the area was searched. Enquiries are ongoing. “Anyone who was in the Northmuir Road or Summerhill Road area of Glasgow around the time of the incident and saw a drone being flown or anyone with any information that could assist should call police via 101, quoting incident 1928 of 11 September.”
