Take a look inside FKA twigs's ethereal Victorian house in Dalston, where she creates her music and finds objects with special powers.
It’s a drizzly morning in late December and the midwinter light is only just beginning to seep through the curtains of FKA twigs’s living room. The 36-year-old singer, songwriter, dancer, actor and producer has been known to conjure ethereal places with her music, and the unassuming Victorian house she’s lived in for the past seven years in Dalston is no different.
Inside, the dark wooden furniture is illuminated like a baroque chapel with dozens of lit candles mounted on polished silver candelabras. An impressive grey marble fireplace is decorated altar-style, with pocket-sized antiquities housed in a pyramid-shaped vitrine flanked by two feline African statues. There are twinkling amethyst and quartz geodes on the mantelpiece too; a handwoven ceremonial white Nigerian robe is mounted on the wall.
