The Anchorage Bowl is expected to get its first official snowfall of the season Monday night, with not much accumulation at lower elevations but up to 3 inches possible on the upper Hillside.

Claire Todd returns to the Glen Alps Trailhead with Alaskan Malamutes Flint and Atka during a hike in Chugach State Park after a snowfall on Sunday. Todd said,"They are so happy, and ready for winter to skijor."

Rain is expected to begin Monday afternoon in Anchorage, the Matanuska Valley and a portion of the southern Susitna Valley, according to the. That rain will transition to snow in the Anchorage Bowl and on the Hillside by evening, said forecaster Brandon Lawson. Snow rests on cow parsnip skeletons after the recent snowfall at the Glen Alps Trailhead in the Chugach State Park on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022.
