The Austin Police Department is investigating its first homicide of the year in North Austin.
Police said at 1:18 a.m., officers responded to a crash at the Palms Apartment in the 8600 block of N Lamar Blvd near Hwy 183.
When officers arrived, they found a driver who had been shot and was unresponsive. He was later identified as 20-year-old Fritzgerald Bissereth.Detectives believe Bissereth was shot by an unknown suspect who left the area immediately after.
