WSFA 12 First Alert Weather: Tracking a cold night. Sunny & warm Sunday. Rain and thunderstorms midweek next week.MONTGOMERY, Ala. - It’s been a sunny and breezy start to the weekend. Expect even more sunshine today with lighter winds and warm temperatures. The warm up continues for the start to next week, all ahead of rain and thunderstorm chances that arrive Wednesday and Thursday.
Highs both Monday and Tuesday will soar into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny and winds will be breezy out of the south. Lows to start next week will hover in the upper 50s to lower 60s. A cold front is forecast to move into Alabama Wednesday into Thursday. Ahead of the front will be warm, highs Wednesday will top out in the upper 70s and winds will remain breezy out of the south.Showers and storms will be likely along the front, but the severe threat with this setup looks to be very, very low, at this time.
The cold front looks to quickly depart, and skies will become partly cloudy through the day Thursday. Highs will be colder, in the lower 60s as winds shift out of the north. Lows will hover in the 40s under a mainly cloudy sky.
