MCB Civils were employed as a sub-contractor on a Pharmaron project in Speke
A company says it may cease operating as it claims it is owed around £800,000 for engineering work carried out on a project in Liverpool.
However, MAC Group fell into administration later in 2023, leading Pharmaron to appoint Gateshead-based WHP Engineering to take over the project as the main contractor. MCB stayed on to continue the groundworks. MCB, which is based in Carrickmore, County Tyrone, believes that Pharmaron has responsibility to ensure it has been paid. It accuses Pharmaron of failing to carry out due diligence in its appointment of contractors, who fell into administration.
“We were not afforded the opportunity to complete our works which would have generated income based on our initial contractual commercial agreements. We invested heavily in resources such as plant/personnel including engineers and the like based on the duration of the contract and commercial income guaranteed to us once we were appointed.
“We currently own materials on site which we have no access to and that Pharmaron are claiming ownership of. We have never been paid for these materials and therefore the ownership of same remains with ourselves.”Pharmaron accepts that MCB is owed money. However, it says that it has paid WHP in full and has informed WHP’s administrator of debts owed to MCB.
