Two firefighters were injured after responding to a house fire in Adams County on Sunday morning.
The fire took place in the 100 block of Reservoir Road in Tyrone Township. When the firefighters were inside the lower level of the home, a gun safe collapsed through the first floor, pinning two firefighters. Afterward, a mayday was dispatched,Both firefighters were released and pulled to safety with only minor injuries. Two other firefighters also suffered minor injuries when they fell, Kime said.
After the collapse, Kime said the fire spread to the first floor. It took crews about an hour to get the fire under control but not before gutting the home. The homeowner discovered the fire when returning home from work. He got his dogs out and called 911, according to Kime.
