BREAKING: A former Philadelphia police officer accused of fatally shooting a 12-year-old boy in the back has been charged with murder, the District Attorney’s office announced Monday.
A former Philadelphia police officer accused of fatally shooting a 12-year-old boy in the back has been charged with murder, the District Attorney’s office announced Monday.
Mendoza was a member of the Philadelphia Police Department’s South Task Force, and was fired from his post in April for violating the city’s use-of-force policy. The officers allege they saw two young males, including Siderio, on the street. One of them was holding a gun. Officers put on the emergency lights and approached the young men in their unmarked vehicle.
One of the officers was hit by shards of glass in his face and eyes. Two of the officers got out of the vehicle and fired at Siderio, who they say fired at the car.
