Fire crews are responding to a massive fire Saturday morning in the Andersonville area.
The 3-11 alarm fire started around 5 a.m. at an auto repair shop on the 5000 block of North Clark Street. Two shops, Smashy automotive repair and body shop, and the Star auto repair and body shop, are located there. Heavy smoke can be seen from DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
Fire officials said a person was walking by and called in for a heavy fire -- crews were on the scene within minutes. A two-story building on the south side of the flames was saved but the roof of both auto shops did collapse. 3-11 alarm 5000 N Clark Street, all companies working, one civilian transported yellow to Weiss Hospital
