Finn Wolfhard shares the first details about Hell of a Summer, a new horror movie that he's directing 'It's a comedy slasher film that's set at a summer camp. It takes place at counselors' weekend... and people start getting murdered' 😱
Finn Wolfhard recently revealed plot details for his upcoming directorial debut film Hell of a Summer. The young actor is best known for his role as Mike Wheeler on the Netflix original series Stranger Things as well as his portrayal of Richie Tozier in the 2017 hit film IT and its sequel IT: Chapter Two. The young star is still tackling major roles in front of the camera, but his career ambitions are to do more than only act.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Wolfhard has now revealed details surrounding his upcoming film, Hell of a Summer, via Collider. The upcoming comedy slasher, Hell of a Summer, will take place at a summer camp during the counselors’ weekend prior to the campers' arrival. While the actor is gearing up for Stranger Things season 5 to begin, Wolfhard notes that his directorial debut is currently in post-production and searching for its home.
It's a comedy slasher film that's set at a summer camp. It takes place at counselors' weekend before the campers get there. All the counselors are getting the camp ready and people start getting murdered. It's this kind of ensemble camp comedy with blood in it. I co-wrote and co-directed it with Billy Bryk. We're in the middle of editing it now. Hopefully, someone wants to put it out. That'd be awesome.
Other Collaborations Between Wolfhard & Bryk Although Wolfhard and Bryk co-wrote Hell of a Summer, they previously worked together in 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The duo also joined forces for Wolfhard’s debut short film, Night Shift, in 2020 which saw Wolfhard both in the director’s chair and as the project’s sole screenwriter and Bryk in the lead role.
Considering that Wolfhard has already been making a name for himself in projects that seem to be dripping with nostalgia, it leaves no surprise that his debut directorial film is one that seems to be paying homage to some of horror’s most classic tales. A blood-filled comedy between the walls of a summer camp has been a genre staple since the genre-booming 80s, with films like the Friday the 13th franchise and the Sleepaway Camp franchise.
