Lots of people have questioned why the popular crisp company opts for blue packets over green
With most crisp manufacturers, a craving for cheese and onion will see most snack-lovers reach for a green bag. But the kings of the crisp world, Walkers, do things differently.. The company, which was founded in Leicester in 1948 and now has a factory in Skelmersdale, said they get asked a lot about the colours of their bags.
Despite popular belief, Walkers have always used blue for cheese and onion. They confirmed they've never actually swapped the colours, reports the Liverpool Echo.Walkers said: "We’re often asked this. Our Salt & Vinegar and Cheese & Onion flavour crisps packs have always been the colours they are today. Contrary to popular belief, we’ve never swapped the colours around, not even temporarily. We’ve no plans to change these designs, as they’re signature to our brand.
But many people have also questioned if this is the case, why are salt and vinegar Squares in a blue bag? Walkers said: "Squares were originally produced by Smiths, before becoming part of Walkers in 1989. So to avoid confusion, we’ve left their classic pack colours unchanged." They also answered why you may sometimes think your crisps are smaller, they said: "The size of our crisps completely depend on the size of our potatoes. If your crisps have seemed smaller it is likely that the potatoes in that harvest were smaller."
