St. Charles is in the spotlight thanks to the filming of a new Netflix movie in the city featuring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton.
“I’ve known for a couple of months there was going to be a movie filmed here,” said Ana Karen, who works at La Za Za Trattoria in downtown St. Charles. “This is cool. We’re actually excited to see the movie when it comes out. This is certainly going to give the city even more recognition.”
A section of downtown St. Charles including the Hotel Baker has been the scene of filming for the new Netflix production"The Killer." Hotel Baker co-owner and general manager Rowena Salas said the production crew “did an anonymous visit back in the fall of 2020 at the height of the pandemic.” Dustin Schoenfeld, who works as one of the location managers for the film, spoke about how St. Charles was selected given films are made all over the world.
Dino Sisto, owner of La Za Za Trattoria, spoke Thursday afternoon before the first scheduled film shoot in the city and said that “having Hollywood come here is good for the town” and that the parking situation was his only concern.
